Teacher

faculty_sharonDear Parents and fellow Educators at Creative Inspiration Journey School (CIJS), I would like to start by saying I am very excited to be part of the education staff at CIJS. I grew up here in Winter Springs, and I am enjoying the opportunity to teach Reggio in my home town. I received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Palm Beach Atlantic University in 2007. I also completed all of the required Education Preparatory Institute (EPI) courses at Seminole State College, including an internship with Kindergarten. In addition, I received a certificate for both the Primary (Pre-k through grade 3) subject and general education exams for teaching in Florida.

Next to my husband and family, teaching children is one of my biggest passions. I began teaching Early Childhood Education in 2010. My love for teaching children began when I was in Middle School while teaching my younger preschool and toddler-age cousins how to read and write their letters and numbers, recognize shapes, colors, etc. The opportunity to teach Sunday school arose while I was in High school. In addition, I am currently still working with elementary students today. Before joining the CIJS family, I taught for over four years at La Petite Academy.

One of my favorite things about teaching is watching the smiles and excitement of each child as he/she learns something new. At CIJS, I can witness this excitement even more by helping students learn about our world through hands-on activities.

In addition to teaching, I enjoy arts/crafts, cooking/baking, performing arts (singing, dancing, etc.), decorating, hosting gatherings, and welcoming newcomers to wherever I go. My hobbies include making decorations and putting together jigsaw puzzles.

I traveled to many different places in the world throughout my life, and I would be happy to share my knowledge, experience, and answer any questions you might have. My door is always open. Thank you so much for this opportunity to be part of your children’s learning experience at CIJS.

Teaching Philosophy

My teaching philosophy is progressivism. I am passionate about teaching my students in a way that not only helps them grow academically, but teaches them how to apply what they have learned to their life in the real world. I believe it is the teacher’s job to provide a safe environment where students can grow academically, physically, socially, and mentally. I believe students should be treated fairly, kept from physical or mental harm, and should not be put in any situation where they will be embarrassed in front of their peers.

I believe a well-organized classroom creates an environment where students feel safe and encourages discovery. I encourage students to utilize their critical thinking skills and creativity to make their learning fun. I strive to have a lasting impact on my students through my teaching and provide the foundations for them to be life-long learners as we help each other grow.
